Born on April 26, 1991, in Sacramento, California, Stephen Tetsu grew up right on the border of the bad part of town and the suburbs. In 2013, Stephen graduated from UC Davis with a degree in East Asian Studies and minimal job prospects. Soon after, he moved to Ibaraki Prefecture, north of Tokyo, to teach English at a private conversation school.
Stephen Tetsu is, as of 2015, a talent under the representative umbrella of Yoshimoto Kogyo, Japan’s largest comedy company based both in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.
Occasionally, this designation allows him to perform shows at Yoshimoto Jimbocho Manzai Theater and, even more occasionally, other theaters. Mostly, Yoshimoto just uses him for cheap translations.
